Dog Ear was founded 9 years ago by Katelyn Berkshire, a proud designer, dog owner and Michigander. With years of both agency and freelance experience, her work now focuses on logos, visual identity, and websites that help businesses present themselves clearly and confidently. Her background in behavioral psychology influences how each project is approached. Every design decision begins with the same question: how will real people see and understand this brand? When she works, she's usually drawing from nature, keeping it simple, and leaving her mark.
Katelyn is joined in her home office with her two dogs, Moose and Harry. With their help and the help of a backend developer (hey, Randy!), projects are delivered on time with a genuine quality that's ahead of the pack.

We built Atomic Nuts from the ground up. From sketch to shelf, we positioned the brand to feel like it should: some of the best spiced cashews on the market.
Dog Ear redesigned the websites for Lilac Tree Suites and Chippewa Hotel Waterfront, creating modern hotel websites for two of Mackinac Islandâs most recognizable destinations.
We designed a distinctive logo and brand identity for Black Calder Brewing Co., reflecting the culture and ambition behind one of Michiganâs first Black-owned breweries.
Dog Ear developed a comprehensive brand style guide for the Michigan Department of State, defining typography, color systems and logo usage standards.
